SPOILER ALERT!

The Introduction to a Professional Hitman

Charles Voyde Harrelson was created on July 23, 1938 in Lovelady, Texas. During the course of the lifetime he had four sisters, and worked as an encyclopedia salesman and professional gambler.

Whether those were part-time cover tasks is unknown but according to his son, he was supposedly a CIA assassin.

In 1960 he had been convicted of armed robbery and a year after Woody was born. Eight decades after, Charles Harrelson was arrested for the murder of Alan Berg but would later be aquitted by a jury of his peers.

David Berg, the brother of Alan Berg wrote a novel about his view of how Alan's murder influenced him and his family called Run, Brother Run.

The Brief Stretch of"Good Behaviour"

So now it's 1978 and he hadn't been arrested. Perhaps he was busy selling encyclopedias in this blank stretch.

The length of good behaviour did not last long because in 1979 he found himself in the center of yet another murder offense. This time it was for the killing of a federal judge. You are not even supposed to raise your voice at a judge, let alone murder you for pay or otherwise.

U.S. District Judge John H. Wood Jr. was notorious for providing heavy sentences for drug offenses and consequently had a terrible reputation among the criminal population that was conscious of this fact.

Hired To Kill A Federal Judge
Charles Harrelson was hired by a drug dealer named Jamiel Chagra to eliminate the judge so as to avoid serving a life sentence in prison.

Harrelson was arrested for the strike based off recorded communications involving Chagra and his brother during a prison visit.

Charles got sentenced to two life sentences and one of his wives also was convicted on charges of being an accomplice to the murder.

As you saw in the movie of Woody Harrelson above, he did his best to have his dad's verdict overturned but was ultimately unable to do so.
